Open Question: Can you take your dogs camping at Lake Camanche?

Hi there! As funny as this sounds, Im going camping for the first time in 30 years. LOL. My Family and I have 2 dogs and I really, really want to take them but I've heard different things from different people. Some say that its ok to take dogs camping and some say that its not a good idea.
Is it because of the fact that their poop will draw bears? If thats the case, I would of course pick up their poop right away and discard it properly. Is there any other reason though? I just dont want this camping trip to be more trouble than fun by taking our doggies. I'd really appreciate some answers from people that have experience camping with their doggies.
